Rock N' Roll For Charity

On Tuesday night stars of the Rock and Roll fraternity got together to help raise funds for the New York Fire Department following last months attacks. Aided by members from Blue Watch from Hammersmith Fire Station the event managed to raise more than £2000 from donations from the packed venue and an auction of signed memorobilia from Iron Maiden and Pat Cash.

The event took place at The Walkabout in Shepherds Bush and was organised by Tennis Star Pat Cash who asked some of his friends to pop down and help out. Among some of the people who got up were Adrian Smith (Iron Maiden), Dave 'Bucket' Colwell (Bad Company), Gary Leiderman (Bjorn Again/Psycho Motel), Mark Brzezicki (Big Country/Procul Harem), Dougie White (Yngwie Malmsteen/Rainbow), Benjy Reid (everyone!).

Also making surprise appearances where Ex Formula 1 World Champion Damon Hill, star of 'Men Behaving Badly' Lesley Ash, Didgeree-doo master and the evening's compere, Bear, and spotted singing in the crowd, Iron Maiden's Janick Gers with his brother Chris.

A great night was had by all singing along to pub classics such as 'You've Really Got me', 'Alright Now' and finishing with a rousing 'Whole Lotta Rosie' which was a firm favourite with the largely antipodean audience. All monies raised will be passed onto the New York Fire Department for the families who have been devasted by recent events.
